The Mildmay Colours sits in the heart of the village of Holbeton in the South Hams. It is a community owned pub, free of ties, and here to serve the diverse community of the village, and offer a warm welcome to all who visit and pass through. The tenants, Ian and Sharon met in Quebec City. Sharon was on tour with her theatre collective Gob Squad, and Ian was working in Quebec’s coolest bar La Cuisine.

Ian is French Canadian and has worked as a chef for over twenty years, in France, Germany, Quebec and the UK. Sharon is an artist by trade. For her running a pub is a dream come true, and a space where she loves to combine creative projects with great food and drink in a warm, immersive ambience.

They run the pub with their employees Cameron and Scarlett as well as their daughter Charlie and their dog Storm, and always with (never without) constant support from the village. At the colours we specialise in Devon ales and ciders, and serve a tempting range of, home-cooked food.

Our menu is small and changes monthly, keeping the dishes seasonal and as much as possible using locally sourced ingredients.
We are an inclusive place, everyone is welcome. We are happiest when the youngs are chatting to the elders, families are playing board games, locals are chatting to visitors, and people from all walks of life feel they can walk right in and feel right at home. We are dog friendly. We look forward to welcoming you all!
